Week 3 Pre Game Report - Cardinals @ Redskins

The last meeting of these two teams, last season, resulted in a narrow margin of victory for Washington as Neil Rackers missed a 55-yd FG attempt as time expired, giving the Skins a 21-19 win.  Washington has won 8 of the last 9 meetings as well, and also leads the historic series 72-44-2.

But they haven’t played the new and improved Arizona Cardinals.

The NFC’s highest-rated passer is none other than Kurt Warner, who beat out disgruntled Matt Leinart for the starting job at the start of the season.  Add to that rookie RB extraordinaire Tim Hightower and the league’s best WR tandem in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, whose 3 TDs from Warner led to a manhandling of Miami.  Defensively, Darnell Dockett returns to his hometown, and his ability to stuff the run will likely give Clinton Portis et al. fits; however, Portis does have a rushing TD in his last 3 games vs. the Cardinals.  Additionally, Adrian Wilson has intercepted a pass vs. Washington in 2 of his last 3 games against them.

The Cardinals haven’t gone 3-0 since 1974.

(Gotcha!  Minus the face mask penalty, of course.)
